On this blog and some of my other blogs I have used a lot of free Stock Photo websites to find some interesting pictures for my posts. This post gives an overview of these valuable links.

1. BurningWell. BurningWell is a repository for public domain (free for any use) images.
2. Public domain photos: All (5000) photos on this site are public domain and can be used for any purpose, including commercial.
3. Flickr is one of the largests collections of photo’s. In the advance search options you are able to limit your search within Creative Commons-licensed content or you can check the additional information to see if and under which restrictions an image can be used.
4. FreeImages.co.uk, a site with more than 3000 original stock photos that can be used for free.
5. Unprofound.com. Jim started this website in 2001 to make pictures available online for other people to use with no strings attached.
6. Openphoto is another great resource for photos. Next to each Photo the licence attribution is shown.
7. The photos at the Free Public Domain Photo Database are explicitly placed in the public domain. They can be used for whatever you want, but a link back is appreciated.
8. FreeDigitalPhotos.net contains thousands of royalty free photos for websites, newspapers, magazines, video and TV productions, PowerPoint presentations, forums, blogs and school work.
9. Kave Wall’s site contains a lot of free stock photos, images and textures.
10. The images at pixel perfect digital are copyrighted, but they may be used free of charge on websites and in print. However some restrictions apply so you may want to check their terms of use.

11. Stockvault.net is a stock photo sharing website where designers and photographers can meet to share their images. All images on Stockvault.net are free for personal and non-commercial usage.
12. Twicepix.net is a German site with over 5000 pictures for free.
13. creativity103.com contains a lot of Stock photos on that are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License. A credit to the site and the contributor is required.
14. Free Photo Bank
15. Bigfoto.com is another source for royalty free photo’s. You have free use of all pictures as long as you provide a link to the bigfoto website.
16. IronOrchid contains a lot of images that are designed specifically for office and web use. The Photo Clipart section contains over three thousand images.
17. Cepolina Photos has more than 8000 free photos that are available for download. The images can be downloaded for personal or commercial use, but credit has to be given to their site.
18. FreeFoto.com: You can use their images in an online setting, as long as you provide attribution to the image and a link back.
19. Star twenty-nine has only a limited number of (currently) 115 photos in the archive, but some of them are rather nice.
20. 9×13 glänzend is another resource for free photographs. The site is theme oriented and contains a lot of pictures from different countries.
21. PIX is a free image repository project. You can search, download and use their images for free, without registration.
22. Four bees is another source for free media, but please read their terms of use before downloading an image.
23. At StickStock.com you can find a lot of free stock photos, vectors and textures.
24. The ArtFavor website contains a collection of vector and flash clipart, sounds, fonts, photos, pictures and images for designers, flash programmers and interested in creative web design.You can use any resources only for non-commercial projects.
25. The digital photo collections from AarinFreePhoto.com are free to use. There are over 950 images to choose from and most of the images seem to have a rather low resolution, but this will often be sufficient for web usage.
26. Animal Photos contains a lot of animal pictures.
27. unices.org contains about 2000 pictures free of right.
28. dieBlen.de is a German site with currently 383 images in 8 categories.
29. The images from freerangestock may be used in commercial projects like websites, advertising, books, videos, and other commercial presentations.
30. If you are looking for high quality pictures then Photocase.com may be an interesting site, but they use a kind of credit system which enables you to download the pictures.
31. If you are looking for textures than the stock photographs on Texture King will be something you want to look at.
32. The collection on PacHD contains more than 1000 pictures.
33. ilovestockphoto.com was formed in April, 2008 and their goal is to provide the best quality of Royalty-Free Stock Photography and Royalty-Free Stock images. Not all images are free, but there is a free category.
34. Barry’s Free Photos offers over 2300 FREE Stock Photos in various categories.
35. Free nature photos contains a lot of beautiful pictures and allows private non commercial users to download them as long as they follow the rules that are mentioned at the website. You must place a hypertext link and for website use you have to place it on you own server.
36. FreeFoto.ca is a large collection of free photographs on the Internet. The images are free for private and non-commercial use, but a link back and attribution is required.
37. A lot of travel images can be taken from Tripalbum that has a nice collection of travel images of Argentina, Indonesia, Morocco and Singapore. These are available for download under a Creative Commons license.
38. Over 2.000 free photos of birds, animals, flowers, plants, objects, close-up and macro photos etc can be found in the gallery of photico.com.
39. The DHD Multimedia Gallery is a collection of original stock photography, clip-art, sounds and video clips, for use in Web design, PC’s screen wallpaper, etc.
40. Microshots.org is a rather new stock photography site with currently 594 images. This collection of close-up stock photography will be updated on a regular basis. The site contains surface textures, plants, metal, wood, etc
41. More than 500 pictures can be found in the gallery of Imagetemple.com. The gallery contains a lot of 7 megapixel photos that you can download for free.
42. The site morgue file contains free high resolution digital stock photography for either corporate or public use.
43. Image*After is a large online free photo collection. You can download and use any image or texture from this site and use it in your own work, either personal or commercial.
44. Diwiesign studio is the place to find a lot of royalty free stockphotos like rusty textures, dark industrial themes or dirty wasted motives. But dirt can be beautiful
45. OneOddDude.net offers some nice image galleries, including nature and landscape, ocean, sunsets, animals, seasonal, and flowers. All images are free for personal, non-commercial use.
46. DesignPacks.com offers free, high quality image collections that can be used for both personal and commercial web design projects. Each collection contains 15 images with a specific theme and can be downloaded as a single ZIP file.
47. All the pictures at Bajstock.com have been taken by Jean-Baptiste Maradeix. They can be freely used for both non commercial as well as commercial purpose. For a commercial purpose a reference to Bajstock.com is compulsory.
48. Yellowstone Digital Slide File contains about 13,000 images related to Yellowstone National Park that are in the public domain and may be reproduced, free of charge with the proper credit line.
49. Insect Images is a joint project of The Bugwood Network and USDA Forest Service and contains more than 30000 images.
    
    The images included in the Bugwood Network Image Archives are made available under a Creative Commons license. In addition to InsectImages.org the network includes the following domains:
50. - ForestryImages.org,
51. - IPMImages.org,
52. - and Invasive.org.
    
    
53. The Belgian site Fotogalerijen.be contains a lot of beautiful picture galleries about parks in Europe like Disney Paris and Efteling park
54. Imageblowout.com is another source for free images. This site contains about 250 images.
55. Fontplay’s Free photos offers more than 10000 photos that may be used for any artistic endeavor, personal or commercial without having to give credit or a link etc. All photos are taken by Dennis Hill and his friends.
56. The photos on freephotosbank.com from the author “freephotosbank” are free to use as long as you are using them for a website, book, magazine, etc.
57. All the pictures in the download section of Vyonyx are absolutely free of any charge and there are no limitations on their personal or commercial use!
58. Visipix probably contains the largest collection of free high resolution pictures. All copyrights are free, but the name of the photographer and visipix.com have to be added.
59. Another interesting link for free images is FreePixels.com. This gallery currently contains 3,641 images in 37 categories.
60. Take Yr Pic offers a growing collection of free stock photography.
61. All digital stock photography on ZURBphotos.com is free for personal use if appropriate credit is given for the photograph.
62. ImageBase is a searchable database of high resolution full rights for free photographs. You can use these images for whatever you want.
63. Hubble Heritage images can be reproduced without requests for permission if the credit line is “NASA, ESA, and The Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA).”
64. Free Nature Pictures has over 1100 free digital nature pictures available in various resolutions, completely free of charge.
65. EdenPics offers free nature wallpapers and pictures.
66. Free Photos Web contains more than 6,000 free photographs in 7 categories.
67. Majestic Imagery contains 457 images in 18 categories which can be used free, but a registration is needed.
68. The photo library of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NCAA) contains thousands of stunning ocean exploration photographs, coral reef photographs, and polar regions photographs.
69. Photographs from NASA Image Gallery are not protected by copyright unless noted.
70. Another site for free stockphotos is Amygdela’s atmosphere. Some of the photos have an incredible amount of detail.
71. GEek Philosopher is another source for free to use photo, background, and desktop wallpaper quality images.
72. At the moment there are 2,837 images available at FreeLargePhotos.com. Individuals may use these images for their personal use as long as they note the source.
73. The images on FreeMediaGoo.com are royalty free. There is no need for links and there are no limits to the amount of images you can use. In addition to these images they offer free audio, textures and flash.
74. The galleries of a digital dreamer contain free royalty free Stock Photography structured by means of 15 albums.
75. Pixelgalerie contains (currently 224) photographs of Mike Haufe, a German photographer. The pictures in this gallery are free to use, but a link is appreciated.
76. The From Old Books website contains a unique collection of over 800 public domain images scanned from old books and has many pictures of castles, abbeys and old houses.
77. All the royalty free digital photos on AMG Media Works may be used as long as you give credit to the photographer: Ernest von Rosen.
78. Tom’s 7 Photo Gallery is a gallery of pictures taken by Tom Murphy.
79. FreeStockPhotos.com offers a nice collection of free photographs for personal or commercial use.
